U.Today – Nearly six months after the debut of Core 27.0, the BTC development team has launched the latest protocol update. This fresh version, called Bitcoin Core 28.0, includes several improvements and bug fixes for the Bitcoin mainnet.
The Bitcoin development team strives for greater security and privacy
This week, the Bitcoin development team released notes highlighting a number of updates aimed at improving the program’s functionality and security. In addition to improved security and other bug fixes, Bitcoin Core 28.0 provides users with improved privacy features.
This comes just weeks after developers notified the public about a high-risk vulnerability and bug in the software. These vulnerabilities were concentrated in one in six Bitcoin nodes, disrupting their operation. These exact vulnerabilities make nodes highly vulnerable to DoS attacks from malicious actors. All the attacker had to do was exhaust the nodes with low difficulty header strings.
When these nodes were able to download long chains beyond their capacity, a potential failure occurred. Thanks to Bitcoin Core 28.0 and its additional security enhancement, this is no longer a challenge. To a vast extent, this latest development supports repeatable compilations, allowing experienced users to compile identical binaries in addition to those distributed on the official BTC Core website.
In the long run, it promotes trust and transparency in the BTC community.
Bitcoin price is seeing some growth
The market outlook for BTC changed on September 18, right after the Federal Reserve announced a 50 basis point interest rate cut. The flagship cryptocurrency has breached $60,000 after falling below that level for days. A few days later, the coin dropped and started trading sideways.
Bitcoin recently surged to $62,000 but refused to register a larger gain even after the release of US jobs data. The coin is currently trading at $62,121.25, up 1.65% in 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data.
While not immediate, the Bitcoin Core upgrade could have an impact on overall performance if investors price it appropriately.
