(Reuters) – Former Rockwell Collins (NYSE:) Chief Executive Officer Kelly Ortberg has joined the list of candidates being seriously considered by Boeing (NYSE:) to be the plane maker’s modern CEO, The Air Current reported on Sunday, citing industry sources.

Ortberg, Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE:) CEO Pat Shanahan and Boeing Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Pope are among those considered for the Boeing position, a trade publication reported.

Reuters reported that the candidates include Shanahan and Pope, as well as Boeing Chairman Steve Mollenkopf.

Earlier in July, Boeing said it would buy Spirit, its former subsidiary, in a stock deal worth $4.7 billion.

Rockwell Collins by RTX manufactures aerospace communications, electronics and aviation systems for commercial and military customers. Ortberg retired in 2021 as an advisor to the CEO of RTX after leading Rockwell Collins and its successors for about eight years as it navigated mergers, acquisitions and restructuring.

Boeing did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment outside business hours.

Boeing is looking for a modern chief after Dave Calhoun said in March he would step down by the end of the year, part of a broad management shakeup following a panel failure on a 737 MAX plane in January.
