Galxe, web3’s largest onchain distribution platform, today announced the upcoming launch of Gravity, a Layer 1 intelligent contract platform designed to transform the way users and developers interact with web3. Over the past three years, Galxe’s user base and transaction volume have grown exponentially, highlighting the need for more effective, scalable, and secure solutions to manage complicated cross-chain interactions with minimal friction. Existing solutions did not provide the required complexity and scale, which led Galxe to develop Gravity. Gravity addresses these challenges by offering an integrated and streamlined experience for both developers and users.

Introducing gravity

Gravity is an omnichain settlement layer built for mass adoption and full-chain abstraction. Its approach abstracts the technical complexity of chain interactions by integrating advanced technologies such as zero-knowledge proofs and state-of-the-art consensus mechanisms to ensure high performance, increased security and cost-effectiveness.

Once launched, Gravity will be seamlessly integrated with Galxe’s existing suite of products – Quest, Compass, Passport, Score, Alva and Galxe Identity Protocol. Positioned to handle 100 million transactions per month – three times more than Ethereum – Gravity offers a seamless solution for Web3 interactions. This integration allows developers instant access to a huge user base, increasing their ability to attract and retain users. Gravity also simplifies cross-chain asset management, cross-chain transaction settlement, and user-friendly transaction processes without incurring core complexities.

“Gravity represents a major advancement in our mission to decentralize the web3 ecosystem,” said Harry Zhang, co-founder of Galxe. “Over the past three years, Galxe has consistently prioritized user experience, as evidenced by transaction volume across the 34+ chains it supports, underscoring the urgent need for a solution like Gravity to simplify cross-chain interactions and provide a streamlined, user-friendly experience. Gravity’s ability to abstract away these complexities is a game changer for both developers and users.

Key features of gravity

  • Cross-chain transactions: Gravity enables developers to define and settle transactions across multiple blockchains, making interactions more effective and secure.
  • Effective verification: By supporting cost-effective FPC verification, Gravity ensures that transactions are both cost-effective and secure.
  • Improved UI: By introducing cryptographic primitives such as the secp256r1 curve through pre-built contracts, Gravity enables utilize cases such as cost-effective password authentication for Account Abstraction wallets, improving the user experience.
  • High performance: Gravity integrates the fastest Reth execution layer and the state-of-the-art Jolteon consensus algorithm (AptosBFT). Together, these technologies are designed to provide high throughput and near-instant finality.
  • Secure and tough PoS mechanism: Gravity Proof-of-Stake will be powered by a combination of the G token’s native staking and re-staking protocols, including Babylon and EigenLayer. This project motivates and unites communities from different spectrums of activity to protect the gravity chain together.
  • EVM Compatibility: Gravity will be fully compatible with EVM, enabling developers to seamlessly deploy and interact with intelligent contracts.

Gravity start

Galxe announces the rollout of Gravity in two key phases. The Gravity Alpha Mainnet, powered by the Arbitrum Nitro stack, will go live in June 2024. The launch of the Alpha Mainnet demonstrates Galxe’s commitment to the highest standards, testing cross-chain settlements in a limpid production environment using a public ledger rather than a centralized backend. In Q2 2025, the Gravity mainnet will launch, featuring a Layer 1 PoS blockchain powered by reloading, with Reth as the EVM execution engine. Stay tuned for the launch of Alpha Mainnet in June and more updates as Gravity rollout progresses.
