Is this one of the companies listed on the FTSE 100 stock exchange that pay a quarterly dividend?

Out of 97 companies on FTSE100 which paid the dividend last year, only eight of them paid a quarterly dividend. Receiving such a dividend in four payments a year, not two or one, has its advantages.

First of all, it offers investors more regular cash flows. Broken payments also mean slightly faster folding if they are invested again. Quarterly payment is also a sign of a blue chip company with stable profits, often valued by dividend investors.

The eight companies themselves are – in a random order – Unilever, Sports competitions Workshop, British American Tobacco (LSE: bats), HSBC, GSK, Imperial, Bishop AND Shell. There are several substantial names, but which of them is “the best”? Which quarterly dividend of FOTSA should pay attention to investors in terms of enduring and long -term dividend payments? I must say that “the best” can be very subjective, but here is my opinion.

Eight

Let’s remove one thing from the road. Each of them is worth considering every novice investor. The estimated dividend rate is currently in the range of 4-6%, although good investing requires a look in a time horizon longer than any given year.

Both kerosene concerns and two tobacco companies have something in common: products that are withdrawn. Profits and dividends can be good for now, but in the long run there may be risk.

HSBC is one of the “great four” British banks. Focusing on Asia, it can be a great offer to be considered for anyone who optimistically looks at China. Games Workshop is definitely the smallest company on the list. This can create a larger field for growth in the future. GSK in the pharmaceutical industry and Unilever in the field of consumer goods are also leaders in their sectors.

Which one do I choose so?

Number one

My best choice (and actions I have) is British American Tobacco. In my opinion, the numbers behind the quarterly dividend are simply a very sturdy argument.

The company’s shares have been paying uninterrupted dividend for over 25 years, placing it in a very selected group. Along the way, the price of the action increased. In fact, a tobacco giant with market capitalization of 80 billion pounds from the very beginning of its existence in 1984 provided the greatest financial satisfaction of all original FTSE 100 members.

Query signs about the future actually surround the company. How long will the world buy tobacco products? Western countries have recorded a vast decline, partly due to regulations and legislation (but also because of consumer awareness, how unhealthy these products are), although in developing countries an augment in the number of smokers is still observed.

The company has a growing department of non -flammable materials (such as vaporizers and bags). When it comes to cigarettes, it is worth noting that tobacco companies have entry barriers reminiscent of a great Chinese wall. Currently, nobody runs a cigarette start-up.

British American Tobacco is certainly a company facing challenges. However, in my opinion, the combination of dividend history with above average profitability makes this my favorite quarterly dividend on the FTSE 100 index. I would say that investors should be interested in it.
