Bybit, the world’s second largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, in partnership with Blocks Scholes, captures the pulse of BTC options underlying currents in its latest Crypto Derivatives Report. The detailed report offers a comprehensive view of the implied BTC price volatility in the context of the recent surge in surface BTC spot prices.
The results suggest that positive movements in the BTC spot market have not translated directly into the derivatives market, and short-term volatility lurks as investors are currently holding off on US election results before acting on current bullish trends. This also showed the dominance of BTC over ETH in trader positioning.
Key Insights:
Futures Movements Lag Perps: The modest enhance in interest in open futures has not matched the recent noticeable increases in BTC spot prices, and the market has yet to reach levels prior to the options expiration in delayed September.
Perpetrators running away from bulls: Interest in open-ended perpetual swaps is surging, reaching a fresh high in months, according to the deal. Spikes in trading activity and increased participation in perpetual contracts reflected the optimism present during the recent rally.
Suspension of choices on BTC options Volatility: The relative stability of short-term options does not signal significant price opportunities for BTC in the near term, but the stress of U.S. election uncertainty could trigger moves following the outcome, which has shown to have a greater impact on BTC volatility than the recent rise in spot prices.
