  • The Biden administration will reportedly participate in a historic roundtable with congressional officials.
  • The move follows former President Donald Trump’s endorsement of BTC.
  • Trump promised to end Biden’s war on cryptocurrencies and ensure the future of Bitcoin.

The Joe Biden administration is scheduled to participate in a roundtable on Bitcoin and blockchain in early July in Washington, D.C., along with key U.S. Congressional officials. The meeting, which will be led by US Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA), aims to establish a strategy to “sustain Bitcoin and blockchain innovation in the United States.”

According to a private email obtained by Bitcoin Magazine, the roundtable will include officials from Biden’s administration, House of Representatives and Senate, as well as American businessman Mark Cuban. The meeting is being hailed as “the most significant gathering of blockchain policymakers and innovation leaders to date.”

The move is seen as a response to former President Donald Trump’s recent support for the Bitcoin industry, including his acceptance of Bitcoin Lightning payments for campaign contributions. Trump has pledged to “end Joe Biden’s war on cryptocurrencies” and ensure that the future of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is made in America.

In turn, the Biden administration has taken a hostile stance towards the cryptocurrency industry in recent years. In May, the president vetoed legislation that would have allowed regulated financial institutions to hold Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

In April, the Justice Department also arrested the founders and CEO of Samourai Wallet, a popular bitcoin mixing service, on money laundering charges.

However, the upcoming roundtable signals a potential change in Washington’s approach to the cryptocurrency industry and may hot the mood among Democrats. The Biden administration is also reportedly in talks to accept cryptocurrency donations through Coinbase (NASDAQ:) Commerce, following Trump’s lead.
