Moonbeam Network, a clever contract platform for cross-chain application development, announced its “Moonrise” initiative, driven by its 2024 product roadmap, which includes introducing parallel processing to boost throughput by 8x, improving ecosystem integration, streamlining developer and user experience and more. Moonrise signals the next phase of evolution of Moonbeam and the Canary Moonriver network, which uses Axelar bridging technology.

More than two years since its mainnet launch in January 2022, Moonbeam has established itself as the leading solution for integrating networks like , and broader EVM ecosystems. The 2024 roadmap demonstrates Moonbeam’s commitment to continually improving its cutting-edge performance and experience for developers and users.

The Moonrise initiative was reflected in a comprehensive rebranding of Moonbeam’s appearance, emphasizing that Moonbeam is more than just a network. It’s a hub for developers, Web3 enthusiasts, interoperability advocates and more.

“We are extremely excited to reveal the new look of Moonbeam in conjunction with our ambitious plans for 2024. This year we are rolling out enhancements, enhancements and announcements across all aspects of the Moonbeam and Moonriver networks,” he said Aaron Evans, chief operating officer at the Moonbeam Foundation. “As our passionate community of supporters knows, Moonbeam is a modern blockchain with features for developers and users that are still only a dream for other networks that remain in the testnet phase.”

The cornerstone of the 2024 roadmap is to improve the core protocol by introducing asynchronous support, a form of parallel processing that will quadruple block space and halve block times to 6 seconds, resulting in an 8x boost in Moonbeam’s overall throughput.

Further improvements include ensuring compatibility and seamless interoperability with Dencun Ethereum’s gas-saving update, significant UX improvements for Moonbeam Routed Liquidity, and improvements to governance mechanisms.

Other attractions include:

  • Ecosystem integration: Integration with Glacis for reliable cross-chain transactions, Tanssi integration for on-chain application deployments, bringing Moonriver to life with Axelar’s Amplifier for bridges and AMM v3 liquidity program.
  • Development tools: dApps management paths, EIP-4337 account abstraction support, extended tool integration for easier development, deployment and debugging/monitoring.
  • User experience: Zero Knowledge (zkAuth) initiative for Web2 authentication, tokenomics incentive updates, and improved stablecoin flows.

Implementation of a number of initiatives will begin immediately and continue in the third and fourth quarters of 2024 and into 2025.

About the Moonbeam network

Moonbeam is a clever contract platform for building cross-chain applications that can access users, resources, and services on any chain. By combining the functionality of Ethereum, Cosmos, Polkadot and others into a single platform, Moonbeam solves today’s fragmented user experience – unlocking true interoperability and paving the way for next-generation applications. The Moonbeam platform uses integrated cross-chain messaging to enable developers to create clever contracts that provide access to services across multiple remote blockchains. This approach, combined with Moonbeam’s developer-friendly EVM platform, extensive tool support, and Substrate’s up-to-date architecture, creates the ideal development environment for building connected applications.
