Investing.com – Visitors to the Token 2049 expo in Singapore will have the opportunity to collect digital avatars as part of the DOTphin project, a collaboration between the Sovereign Nature Initiative (SNI), Unique Network and WalletConnect.
Booth attendees can claim Proof of Presence (PoP) tokens that unlock evolutionary stages for their DOTphin avatars, which are shaped by real-time ecological data and linked to marine conservation efforts.
With energetic NFTs, DOTphin aims to escalate event engagement and create real ecological impact by turning participation into an interactive experience. The project, supported by the Polkadot community via OpenGov, debuted at Polkadot Decoded 2024.
DOTphin combines blockchain with environmental impact, allowing users to engage with NFTs while supporting real-world conservation. By interacting with DOTphin avatars, participants contribute to marine conservation through data provided by SNI partner Aquasearch.
SNI CEO Catherine Bischoff explains, “With DOTphin, we’ve pioneered a groundbreaking approach to connecting community engagement and protecting our natural world by connecting digital collectibles to living entities. We’re adding meaning to virtual domains by distributing dynamic assets that verifiably make an impact in the real world.”
Participants can collect their avatars by visiting the SNI website or by scanning QR codes at the event. Once collected, the avatars can be evolved through the REAL portal, where each user’s collected PoP will affect the growth and appearance of their DOTphin.
The avatars feature a design inspired by Japanese anime, which aims to create a meaningful bond between users and their digital companions.
Polkadot Decoded Asia was held on September 16-17, 2024 in Singapore during TOKEN2049 week. The conference highlighted the Polkadot ecosystem and key developments in the Web 3.0 space, and significant preparations were made ahead of the event.
Despite the challenges in the market, developer activity in the Polkadot ecosystem remains forceful. According to the latest statistics, the network currently hosts 29,917 repositories, with weekly commits exceeding 5,500. Around 900 developers also contribute weekly, keeping the ecosystem energetic.
