Dynamics of steel (NASDAQ:STLD) said on Thursday it had petitioned the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission to impose antidumping duties on imports of corrosion-resistant flat-rolled steel, saying a surge in imports had hurt the domestic steel industry.

Business These duties should apply to imports from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam, as well as to countervailing duties on imports from Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Vietnam.

Imports of corrosion-resistant flat-rolled steel from 10 countries surveyed rose to nearly 2 million tonnes in the first half of this year from less than 1.25 million tonnes a year earlier, weighing on volumes, prices and profits for the U.S. steel industry, according to the company.

Steel Dynamics (STLD) said that, subject to an investigation, it hopes to make preliminary findings on subsidies this year and on dumping early next year, with final decisions by both agencies expected by October 2025.
