U.Today – In a fresh update on the legal battle between self-proclaimed Satoshi Craig Wright and the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), a coalition of leading cryptocurrency companies, ruling judge Mellor issued his written judgment declaring that Craig Wright is not a Satoshi.

For years, Wright boldly claimed that he was the mastermind. This claim was met with skepticism and controversy, leading to a legal battle with the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), a consortium of leading cryptocurrency companies. The COPA lawsuit, filed in 2023, accused Wright of extensively falsifying documents to support his claims.

The legal saga climaxed on March 14, 2024, when the court rejected Wright’s claims as baseless. The judge criticized Wright’s evidence as unreliable and his narrative as fabricated, ultimately rejecting his claim to recognize Bitcoin as intellectual property. The ruling not only discredits Wright’s narrative, but also reinforces the mysterious aura surrounding Satoshi Nakamoto’s true identity.

Now the court has published its approved judgment in this case. According to a written judgment delivered on May 20, Judge Mellor announced the outcome of the Satoshi Identity Issue case, taking into account the conclusion of closing submissions.

The statement reads as follows: “First, Dr. Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin white paper. Second, Dr. Wright is not the person who adopted or operated under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto from 2008 to 2011. Third, Dr. Wright is not the person who created the Bitcoin system. Fourth, Dr. Wright did not author the first versions of the Bitcoin software.

The implications of this ruling, now written down, are profound for the cryptocurrency industry. It reaffirms Bitcoin’s decentralized and leaderless ethos, ensuring that no single person can claim its origins. Moreover, it puts an end to one of the most controversial and publicized claims regarding the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.

Once the dust settles on this legal dispute, the crypto community is left to consider the enduring mystery of the identity of Bitcoin’s creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. While many people have claimed this name or been associated with it, the anonymity of Bitcoin’s creator remains intact, maintaining the fundamental principle of a currency free from the control of any person or entity.
