Bitget has launched Stock+, a novel feature that allows eligible users to buy real U.S. stocks and ETFs using USDC and other digital assets, expanding the exchange’s focus on overlapping crypto balances and conventional market exposure.

TL;DR

  • Bitget says Stock+ allows eligible users to purchase real U.S. stocks using cryptocurrencies.
  • This feature is part of Bitget’s broader Stocks 2.0 ecosystem.
  • Users finance purchases with digital assets, which are converted to settle shares.
  • The product is geofenced and should not be considered as available worldwide.

In an official statement, Bitget said that Stock+ allows users to purchase real US stocks directly using USDC and other digital assets. The company described the launch as part of its Universal Exchange strategy, which aims to enable users to move between cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets and conventional marketplace products within a single platform.

The distinction between “real equities” and tokenized exposure is vital. Cryptocurrency exchanges are increasingly offering synthetic or tokenized equity products, but these can vary significantly in structure, laws and regulatory status. Bitget’s announcement pitches Stock+ as giving users direct access to U.S. stocks and ETFs, with cryptocurrency balances used as a funding layer.

Why this product angle matters

The broader market is moving towards a world where cryptocurrency exchanges no longer want to be just spot and futures trading platforms. They aim to become multi-asset platforms where users can store stablecoins, trade cryptocurrencies, access stocks, buy tokenized securities and transfer collateral between products.

For users, the advantage is convenience. Someone sitting on USDC doesn’t necessarily want to move funds through multiple banks and brokers before purchasing U.S. equity exposure. A cryptocurrency-financed exchange-traded product reduces this friction, at least in eligible jurisdictions.

In the case of exchanges, the appeal is a stoppage. If a platform can offer cryptocurrencies and conventional assets in one place, users can maintain more balance in the ecosystem. This is why products like Stock+ are strategically vital, even if they start petite.

Regulatory limits continue to shape the market

The main caveat is availability. Products that link cryptocurrency balances to U.S. securities are highly dependent on licensing, brokerage relationships and jurisdictional restrictions. Bitget’s announcement includes permission limits, and users in some major markets may not be able to access this feature.

This makes it less of a straightforward “cryptocurrency users can now buy US stocks everywhere” story and more of a signpost for where stocks are headed. The industry is increasingly trying to bridge the gap between digital asset liquidity and conventional market access.

From an investor’s perspective, this trend is worth watching because it is at the center of the real-world asset and tokenization narrative. Whether it’s direct access to brokers, tokenized shares, or stablecoin-funded settlements, crypto platforms are trying to make conventional assets more native to digital wallets.
