Crypto industry executives are reviewing U.S. President Donald Trump’s National Cyber Strategy after its release on Friday, looking for clues about what government support for the crypto industry might signal.

“Crypto and blockchain are clearly identified as technologies that need to be “protected and secured.” This is the first such strategy in the history of American cybersecurity,” Alex Thorn, head of company-wide research at Galaxy Digital he said in post X on Friday.

Crypto and blockchain were mentioned once in a six-page report:

“We will build secure technologies and supply chains that protect user privacy from design to implementation, including supporting the security of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies.”

However, industry executives also interpreted other parts of the document to see how they related to cryptocurrencies.

Thorn pointed to the part where he pledged to “root out criminal infrastructure and deny financial exit and safe haven.” “This language could easily justify attacks on mixers, privacy coins, and unregulated descents,” he said.

Bitcoin VC notes that quantum has been taken ‘seriously’

Castle Island Ventures founder Nic Carter, who has recently been vocal about the threat that quantum computing poses to Bitcoin (BTC), pointed to a section stating that the government will “accelerate the modernization, defense, and resilience of federal IT systems by implementing best practices in cybersecurity, post-quantum cryptography, zero-trust architecture, and the transition to the cloud.”

“They seem to be taking quantum technology seriously. I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about,” Carter he said in post X.

It comes as the crypto industry continues to debate how close quantum computing is to a grave threat to Bitcoin. On February 15, Carter said that the major institutions that hold Bitcoin may eventually lose patience with Bitcoin’s creators for not addressing quantum computing issues quickly enough.

Trump is prioritizing the next generation

Trump said National Cyber Security lays out his priorities for “ensuring America remains unrivaled in cyberspace.” The main topic of the report was artificial intelligence.

“We will secure the AI technology stack – including our data centers – and promote AI security innovation,” it said.

Trump also stressed the importance of recruiting the next generation of cyber workers to “design and implement great cyber technologies and solutions.”

The United States typically publishes a national cybersecurity strategy for each administration, outlining the government’s priorities for emerging technologies.
