The Virgin Galactic spaceplane takes tourists on a flight

(Reuters) – Virgin Galactic has taken four tourists to the edge of space and back aboard its spaceplane, marking its second flight this year, the company founded by Richard Branson said on Saturday.

The Galactic 07 mission carried passengers from Turkey, the U.S. and Italy to an altitude of about 55 miles (88.51 km) in a flight lasting just over an hour.

The space tourism company said the mission launched and returned to Spaceport America in New Mexico on Saturday.

It was the final commercial flight of Virgin’s VSS Unity spaceplane as part of production of its fourth-generation spacecraft, which are scheduled to enter commercial service in 2026, the company said in a statement.
