Nike (of) The actions increased by over 5% at lunchtime in New York on Friday after US President Donald Trump said he talked to the leader of Vietnam.
Vietnam is a place where the manufacturer of clothing and footwear produces the enormous majority of its products. In fact, Nike factories employ about half a million Vietnamese.
On Wednesday, Trump announced a 46% tariff for goods imported from Vietnam, a policy that would drastically influence Nike’s activities. Nike Stock slipped on Thursday by 14.4% in response to the announcement of the tariff.
“It was just a very productive call to Lam, secretary general of the Wietnam Communist Party, who told me that Vietnam wants to lower the features to zero if they were able to conclude an agreement with the USA,” wrote Trump. “I thanked him on behalf of our country and said that I was looking forward to the meeting in the near future.”

Message sent NKE shares from a low level of USD 52.50 to an intraentral level of USD 58.88. Before Nike messages, shares fell under a two -year lower trend, which began in September 2023. He recovered quickly.
Manulhel (sorry)which also produces a significant part of the equipment in Vietnam, has recorded a bit of recovery of the share price on Friday. These movements are clearly contrasting with the general mood of the market. The industrial average Dow Jones (DJIA) lost 4.6% at the time of writing, while S&P 500 and Nasdaq drop by over 5%.
