(Reuters) – Netflix (NASDAQ:) said on Saturday that 60 million households worldwide watched the highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, with the event peaking at 65 million streams, according to a statement.
The fight between 27-year-old social media influencer-turned-award-winning fighter Paul and 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Tyson, which Paul won, was broadcast live on Netflix.
According to Netflix, nearly 50 million households watched the co-main event between Irish lightweight champion Katie Taylor and Puerto Rican featherweight champion Amanda Serrano.
“This fight will likely be the most-watched professional women’s sporting event in U.S. history,” Netflix said in a statement.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector, there was some disruption during the live broadcast of the match, with more than 90,000 users reporting problems with Netflix at the peak.
However, the streaming platform restarted on Saturday after an outage that lasted about 6 hours in the United States.
