European authorities have added 15 cryptocurrency firms, including unit BNY Mellon, to the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework registry in the third update of regulated providers since the July 1 transition deadline.

With the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) update on Friday, the MiCA provisional register shows 309 licensed crypto asset service providers (CASPs).

The latest entries include four banking institutions, including BNY SA/NV, the Belgian subsidiary of US banking giant BNY Mellon, and three German banks, as well as digital asset platforms such as BitPay, Coinify and Bleap.

The update comes as regulators continue work on the MiCA framework, which introduced the European Union’s first harmonized rules for crypto service providers and aims to provide greater oversight of the sector.

Germany and Denmark are leading the way in the latest CASP additions

The most recent entities were registered in Germany and Denmark, and three recent CASPs were registered in each country. Subsequently, Bulgaria and Latvia added two suppliers each, while Belgium, Cyprus, Liechtenstein and the Netherlands added one supplier each.

German additions included the cooperative financial societies Spar-und Kreditbank Rheinstetten and VR-Bank Augsburg-Ostallgäu, as well as Raiffeisenbank Falkenstein-Wörth.

Other newly listed providers include: Bulgarian Altcoins BG and Digital Assist; Denmark’s SafeLynx Technologies and digital asset infrastructure company Januar; and Latvian-registered providers Bleap and Nodu Digital.

MiCA expansion continues beyond the July deadline

The latest update follows previous registry entries made by ESMA after the July 1 deadline, including 14 CASP entities added in the regulator’s second post-deadline update, including industry majors such as Ripple Payments Europe.

While the CASP list has grown, ESMA did not report any changes to other MiCA-related registries in its latest update, including authorized issuers of asset tokens (ARTs), electronic money tokens (EMTs) and crypto assets, as well as non-compliant entities.

Continuous updates show that MiCA implementation remains an evolving process, with regulators continuing to add authorized suppliers as companies complete licensing procedures in European markets.

At the same time, some industry executives are warning that the cost of maintaining a MiCA license could push smaller companies out of business, and Gate Europe CEO Giovanni Cunti says some licensed companies may struggle to maintain the required compliance resources in the long term.
