Investing.com – U.S. stocks rose after Tuesday’s close, as gains in the i sectors led indexes higher.
At the close on the NYSE, the stock was up 0.28% to a recent all-time high, while the index was up 0.57% and the index was up 0.62%.
The best performers were Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 3.18%, or 6.41 points, to close at 207.86. Meanwhile, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) added 2.20%, or 9.20 points, to close at 427.99, and 3M Company (NYSE:) added 2.02%, or 2.63 points, to 132, 95 in the final session.
They performed the worst during the session Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell by 4.76%, or 13.99 points, to reach 280.01 at closing. Nike Inc (NYSE:) fell 2.09%, or 1.66 points, to close at 77.61 and Boeing Co (NYSE:) fell 1.53%, or 2.34 points, to 150.76.
They performed best on the S&P 500 NRG Energy Inc (NYSE:) which rose 10.11% to 101.16, Constellation Energy Corp (NASDAQ:) which rose 7.15% to close at 266.73, and JM Smucker Company (NYSE:) which rose 5.73% to close at 120.13.
The worst performers were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 10.40% to 34.42 at the end of the session, General Motors Company (NYSE:), which lost 8.99% to close at 54.79, and Match the technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which fell 5.23% to 227.93 at the close.
The best performer on the NASDAQ Composite was Psyence Biomedical Ltd (NASDAQ:), which increased by 6872.86% to 3.34, Mofy’s Global Metaverse Ltd (NASDAQ:), which rose 1,467.69% to close at 3.59, and Primega Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:), which rose 918.60% to close at 107.36.
The performers fared the worst Alector Inc (NASDAQ:) which fell 35.10% to 2.57 in the final session, Above Food Ingredients Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 34.28% to close at 0.54 and Łukasz GC Ltd (NASDAQ:), which fell 32.65% to 0.76 at the close.
Between 1765 and 1041, the number of falling stocks outnumbered rising ones on the New York Stock Exchange; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1959 fell, 1,334 rose, and 124 ended unchanged.

The index measuring the implied volatility of S&P 500 options fell by 3.42% to 14.10.
Gold futures for February delivery rose 0.60%, or 15.84, to $2,658.44 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, the price of crude oil for January delivery fell 0.36%, or 0.25, to $68.69 a barrel, while the February Brent crude contract fell 0.39%, or 0.28, reaching a price of $72.20 per barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged by 0.04% to 1.05, while USD/JPY fell by 0.76% to 153.04.
U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.07% to 106.84.
