U.Today – Billy Markus, who created the 2013 spoof with Jackson Palmer, commented on the likely impact of the documentary “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” which aired today on HBO.

He did not share who he thinks Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious inventor of Bitcoin, is. However, he wondered whether the impact on the BTC price could be drastically negative rather than bullish.

“Will Bitcoin Crash Immediately After Disclosure?”

Dogecoin’s founder, known on X (formerly Twitter) as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, frequently uses social media to share his views on various topics, including taxes, politics and cryptocurrencies, but also posts memes. For many, he remains an influential figure in the cryptocurrency world, with 2.1 million people following him on X.

Earlier today, he tweeted that HBO will soon release its long-awaited documentary in which it claims to reveal the true identity of Bitcoin inventor Satoshi. Several “candidates” are mentioned in the video, among them cypherpunk and Blockstream CEO Adam Back, who was mentioned in the Bitcoin white paper, Len Sassaman, and former Bitcoin programmer Peter Todd.

Markus asked his followers, “Who do you think this is?” But more interestingly, he also wondered whether Bitcoin would “immediately crash upon disclosure.”

HBO reveals ‘Satoshi’ but chosen candidate denies it

As it turns out, the document in question reveals none other than Peter Todd as Satoshi, writes CNN. However, the developer denied this. He said the director who made the film was “grasping at straws here… He uses a few coincidences into something much more. “It’s really ironic: it’s a hallmark of conspiratorial thinking.”

Todd also said that the makers did not approach him before the film’s release. However, the director remains positive about his conclusions: “Piotr was there that day (when he was interviewed for the film). He knows what was discussed. He had every opportunity to explain himself.

As for the price of Bitcoin, no crash has been observed in the last 24 hours as BTC only dropped by 1.17%, which can hardly be attributed to the release of the movie and the announcement of Peter Todd as Satoshi by its creators.
