U.Today – Billy Markus, who collaborated with Jackson Palmer in 2013 to create the original meme-themed cryptocurrency, took to his account on the social media platform X to share his expectations for the HBO movie coming out next week, promising to discover the true identity of the mysterious creator Satoshi Nakamoto.
It is worth noting that Dogecoin was created as a joke on Bitcoin, based on the BTC code. Additionally, Markus is known on X as “Shibetoshi Nakamoto” – another joking reference to the nickname of Bitcoin’s creator.
Polymarket users bet that Len Sassaman is Satoshi
Meanwhile, Polymarket data shows that users were actively betting on who Satoshi Nakamoto would prove to be in reality when revealed in the aforementioned HBO documentary. A total of 75% of players believe that Satoshi is Len Sassaman, a cryptographer and privacy advocate who, according to the official story, committed suicide in early 2011 — just two months after Satoshi left a farewell post on the BitcoinTalk forum saying he would move on to other projects.
Therefore, it seems that Billy Markus does not expect any real, original revelations from the documentary. Its creators interviewed many people, including Adam Back – an outstanding cryptographer who corresponded with Satoshi before the premiere of Bitcoin.
Markus is waiting for the HBO movie to “disappoint and disappoint” him.
Back has repeatedly denied being Satoshi. Samson Mow, former CSO of Back Blockstream and current CEO of JAN3, was also present in the video. He explained why he believes Back is not Satoshi – the writing style is completely different. However, Mow believes that the similar Chinese characters (if you spell his name in Chinese) in Satoshi’s name and the word “China” are not a coincidence.
Billy Markus was also asked several times on X if he was Satoshi, and always responded sarcastically to dispel the speculation. Perhaps in featherlight of all these events, in a recent tweet, Markus stated, “I can’t wait to be disappointed and disappointed by the hbo satoshi documentary.”
Finally, Adam Back in today’s X post emphasized that Satoshi stopped using his nickname in 2011. “Nobody knows anything, so I guess we’ll never find out who it was. and that’s good,” he concluded.
