SoMon, a decentralized Web3 forum that aims to create a space for user-owned content and connections, recently launched its app on Base and has already seen over 300,000 blockchain transactions in the 14 days since launch, making it the most busy and fastest growing social app in the Web3 space.

SoMon, low for Social Monster, allows users to monetize and create communities (Tribes) around their favorite topics, passions, creators, and fandoms. It is the first app based on the OpenSocial protocol, a composability infrastructure layer for building social apps, and the first Web3 social app that is truly gasless, allowing it to lower the barrier to entry and include users outside the cryptocurrency community.

After the launch of the mobile app on June 19, 2024, about a month ago, it has amassed over 30,000 on-chain registrations in just two weeks. The community is currently growing rapidly, with over 2 million social interactions among over 300 different tribes (communities) and over 80,000 users.

“Crypto is all about community, but instead of creating communities for users, we want communities to be created by users. SoMon is a user-created space where people can connect with each other while taking control and benefiting from their own social achievements,” he said. Sean Tao, CEO and Co-Founder of SoMon.

SoMon users began creating their own tribes using various tools and NFT-based distributed ownership after the modern feature was released on July 17, 2024. Users create content, and the platform is monetized through a tool called “Megaphone,” through which users can pay for promotional exposure, and revenue is redistributed to tribe owners and stakeholders.

SoMon is currently in its first season, which ends on July 31, 2024. In this season, users compete for points through interactions and earn badges by climbing up different leagues. At the end of the season, SoMon will officially launch its community token, $OwO, which will be distributed to the community at the end of the first season, with the first airdrop releasing 3% of the total supply on August 1, 2024 and 1% of the total supply for subsequent seasons.

In the upcoming seasons, SoMon will focus on activating the social economy through the Tribe Summer campaign, where users can create and engage with their own bot-free community.
