Rio Tinto (NYSE:RIO) has appointed Katie Jackson as chief copper officer, replacing Bold Baatar, who will take up the role of commercial director later this year, the mining group said on Wednesday.
Jackson is currently the president of National Grid Ventures, responsible for development and operation of large-scale energy infrastructure assets. It will join Rio Tinto (RIO) September 1 and will be living in London.
“As we continue to grow Oyu Tolgoi into one of the world’s largest copper suppliers, we also look to the future for new opportunities around the world. We are very excited that Rio Tinto will benefit from Katie’s global perspective, proven operational capabilities and strategic leadership,” said Rio Tinto (RIO) CEO Jakob Stausholm.
