Hanoi, Vietnam, July 2, 2024, Chainwire
In the last two weeks of June, SubWallet announced support for the Kusama Bridge and Polkadot Bridge in its browser extension, followed by the integration of the Asset Conversion palette in its web dashboard, which allows for swapping between DOT, USDT, and USDC on the Polkadot Asset Hub network. These bridges and swaps are vital updates that expand the apply cases of the Polkadot ecosystem, and SubWallet is the first to support them in a sleek UI with an uncomplicated UX.
Polkadot Expands Ecosystem Use Cases
Q2 2024 has seen many long-term changes to the Polkadot ecosystem as they enter production and launch. Notable among them are the Polkadot Kusama Bridge and the Polkadot Ethereum Bridge, which have been in the works for several years.
Unlike most current bridges that are somewhat centralized, Polkadot bridges are completely trustless, which significantly reduces risk. For now, users can safely connect DOT and KSM between Polkadot Asset Hub and Kusama Asset Hub, as well as several tokens, including WETH, and between Polkadot Asset Hub and Ethereum.
Another major event in Q2 2024 is the Asset Conversion palette on the Polkadot Asset Hub, which enables the conversion of assets registered on the network. From the very beginning, the Polkadot Asset Hub was wired to be the liquidity hub for the entire ecosystem, and the launch of the Asset Conversion palette marks a crucial first step towards realizing that vision.
SubWallet elevates Polkadot’s UX
As inventive and indispensable as these updates are, they seem inaccessible to users without a pristine UI and user-friendly UX. This is where SubWallet comes in. With 2.5 years of experience building a user-friendly wallet for the Polkadot ecosystem across three platforms, including a browser extension, mobile app, and web dashboard with over 1.6M downloads and over 800K lively users and devices as of June 2024, SubWallet is the first wallet to integrate two bridges and the Asset Hub exchange.
“As a proactive agent in the Polkadot ecosystem, we closely monitor ecosystem updates and are always one of the fastest, if not the fastest, to provide support. Polkadot has long been considered user-unfriendly and it is our duty as the first port of call to change that perception. Bridging and swapping are key components of the burgeoning DeFi landscape that Polkadot is heading towards, and we want users to have the smoothest and easiest experience with SubWallet.” — Hieu Dao, Co-Founder and CEO of SubWallet
Bridging is handled directly in the Transfer function, and swapping in the Swap tab. Cross-chain transfer is embedded in the swapping process: if a user wants to swap DOT for USDT in Polkadot Asset Hub but only has DOT in Polkadot, SubWallet prompts the user to first make a cross-chain transfer from Polkadot to Polkadot Asset Hub and then swap. This built-in cross-chain functionality also comes into play when users try to liquid stake SubWallet with DOT from the Polkadot relay chain. This way, users can easily try out up-to-date features in a familiar UI/UX without having to navigate a third-party app and learn a up-to-date flow from scratch.
The rapid integration received overwhelming support from the community. The official Polkadot X account re-posted the announcements, and numerous KOLs then re-posted.
With a mission to bring more users into the Polkadot ecosystem, SubWallet will continue to support up-to-date ecosystem updates as soon as possible so that users have an uncomplicated UX to try out these features. Follow them on X to stay updated!
