KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – A Singapore Airlines (OTC:) (SIA) plane used on a flight in which a passenger died in severe turbulence returned to Singapore on Sunday, five days after an emergency landing in Bangkok, Channel News Asia (CNA) reported .
A 73-year-old Briton died of a suspected heart attack and dozens of people were injured on Tuesday after Flight SQ321 from London to Singapore encountered what the airline described as sudden, extreme turbulence while flying over Myanmar.
The plane with 211 passengers and 18 crew headed to Bangkok for an emergency landing. At least 43 people on board are still hospitalized in Bangkok, the hospital in the Thai capital said on Saturday.
Flight tracking service Flightradar24 showed that the aircraft operating flight SQ9071 departed Bangkok on Sunday at 03:49 GMT and arrived in Singapore at 05:39 GMT.
“SIA has obtained the necessary approvals from the relevant authorities in Singapore and Thailand, investigators and the aircraft manufacturer, and the aircraft has been cleared by our engineering and operations teams prior to departure,” Singapore Airlines told CNA.
