United States International Trade Commission – yes consideration of the complaint filed by ArcelorMittal (NYSE:MT) that Vietnamese automaker VinFast infringed its patents on high-strength aluminum and aluminum alloy-coated steel in imported vehicles, Reuters reported on Monday.
VinFast, which has started delivering its VF 8 sport commercial vehicles in California in 2023, plans to open its first North American manufacturing facility in North Carolina in July.
ArcelorMittal (MT) said it first notified VinFast in November 2022 alleging that they infringed its patents and that it believed the VF 3, VF 6, VF 7 and VF 9 models also infringed its patents.
The US ITC will make a final decision in the investigation “at the earliest possible date” and will set a target date for completing the investigation within 45 days of its initiation.
